For centuries, the yurt (nomadic tent) was a home for many Central Asian peoples such as Kazakhs, Kyrgyz, Turkmens, Uzbeks and Karakalpaks. The city of Chimbay in Karakalpakstan is located 60 kilometers from Nukus, the very place of the Karakalpak people where the ancient tradition of making yurts has been preserved. In the workshop we can see how the process of assembling a yurt and manufacturing separate parts takes place.
