The grand exposition entitled “The Treasures of Kushan” will be launched in the Gallery of Fine Arts of Uzbekistan in Tashkent on August 22 of this year.

Due to numerous requests from international scholars, for the first time over the years of independence, it is planned to exhibit the rarest artifacts from the times of the mysterious, not well-studied and once powerful Kushan Empire that emerged on the territory of Central Asia in the middle of the 1st century.

An exclusive feature of the exhibition will be a demonstration of the legendary "Gold Dalverzin", found at the excavations of the ancient site Dalverzin-tepa in the Surkhandarya region. In 1972, during an excavation, a group of archaeologists led by Academician E. Rtveladze discovered the largest treasure of gold items in the history of the region, weighing about 36 kg, dating back to the 1st century. Until today, these rare treasures were kept in public funds, and have not previously been exhibited.

Among the rarest exhibits of the exhibition is a gold pectoral (torque), topped with a gem with the image of Hercules, breast gold jewelry, a gold plaque with an image of an animal, unique golden bars with inscriptions made by Kharoshthi letter, common in Northern India and in southern Central Asia (Bactria, Sogdiana ) in the III c. BC - IV c AD, and much more.

Exhibits of various museums of Uzbekistan, related to the Kushan era, will be presented for the first time in one exhibition.

The exhibition will include a presentation of a book-album and a documentary “Treasures of the Kushan Kingdom” created by the World Society for the Study, Preservation and Popularization of the Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan with the support of the State Committee of Uzbekistan for the Development of Tourism.

As it is known, on August 26, 2019, an international conference will be held in Samarkand “The preservation of the tangible and intangible cultural heritage: actual problems and strategies for solving them”. This event precedes the Heritage Week “Uzbekistan is the crossroads of great roads and civilizations: empires, religions, cultures”. Within its framework, there will be a unique exhibition "Treasures of Kushan."
