New categories of visas are introduced for foreign citizens

In accordance with the decree of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev "On additional measures for the accelerated development of tourism in the Republic of Uzbekistan" the government of Uzbekistan is going to introduce new categories of visas for foreign citizens:

Vatandosh - is a visa given for two years for natives of Uzbekistan and members of their families.  Issued with the invitations from the part of their relatives who are citizens of Uzbekistan and permanently reside on the territory of the country.

Student visa - is a visa given for one year for foreign students who study in educational institutions of Uzbekistan. Issued at the request of educational institutions, ministries, departments and organizations of Uzbekistan having in their jurisdiction educational institutions.

Academic visa - is visa for a period from three months up to two years is given to foreigners who lead research and teaching activities in Uzbekistan. Issued at the request of Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, research organizations, universities, ministries or departments.

Medical visa - a visa is given for up to three months to foreign citizens entering Uzbekistan for medical treatment invited by the medical institution.

Piligrim visa - is a visa for pilgrims, issued for up to two months to foreign persons upon request of the subjects of tourist activities and the Committee on Religious Affairs under the Cabinet of Ministers to study cultural, historical, religious and spiritual heritage and traditions of Uzbekistan.

The report also notes that the visas of these categories will not be electronic.
