Andizhan is a city founded on the ancient and dried up river Andizhansay. The place where the great Zahir ad-Din Muhammad Bobur was born in 1483 - the representative of the Timurid dynasty, the founder of the Mughal Empire in India, commander and poet.


Today, Andizhan is the industrial center of Uzbekistan. Due to the warm climate and fertile lands, agriculture is highly developed here. There is an opportunity to grow the most capricious and heat-loving crops, so Andijan is one of the largest exporters of cotton, vegetables and fruits. Also, there are enterprises for the textiles production, automobile production and petroleum-refining industries.


Today, Andizhan is one of the most densely populated and multinational cities of Uzbekistan. There are Uzbeks, Russians, Armenians, Kyrgyz, Georgians, Tajiks, and even Ukrainians and Belarusians live in the city.


The architecture of Andizhan, especially the old part of the city, is represented by the traditional oriental style, with luxurious mosques and madrasas, as well as numerous historical monuments.
Scientists and tourists from all over the world come to Andizhan to visit the Andizhan local history museum and look at the rich collection of ancient artifacts found during archaeological expeditions in the city and its outskirts. The museum collection contains the rarest ethnographic, historical and cultural values.
